Alberto M. Acosta, MD, PhD, has over two decades of experience in tropical and travel medicine, internal medicine and corporate health care.
In 1996 he co-founded Traveler’s Medical Service of New York, bringing together his related skills and services. Dr. Acosta attended Columbia University for his undergraduate degree and received his MD from Cornell University Medical College. He also earned a PhD, with areas of specialization in Parasitology and Tropical Medicine, from Cornell University Graduate School of Medical Sciences. He is the recipient of several national research awards for his work in tropical diseases. He has traveled throughout the world during his career. He is an Assistant Attending Physician at The New York-Presbyterian Hospital (Department of Medicine) and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Weil Medical College of Cornell University.
Dr. Acosta maintains an active practice in primary care and travel medicine and consults with many multinational organizations on travel medicine and occupational medicine issues. He is a long-standing and active member of the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM) and the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH). Dr. Acosta has been recognized as one of the Best Doctors® in America since 2007.
